Tennis Stars Serve Big At 20th Citi Taste of Tennis

For 20 years Citi Taste of Tennis and AYS production have expertly crafted special events that combined world renowned chefs with big named tennis stars. Outside the Ball is taking you inside the main event in New York City and giving you VIP access to all the action.

The premiere food festival includes a red carpet graced by tennis players, chefs and even a few celebrities. WTA and ATP stars put on a show alongside the master chefs with flavorful cooking demos. Masaharu Morimoto and Richard Blais are some of the incredible chefs on the program, who you may recognize from Iron Chef America, Top Chef, and the Food Network.

At this year’s event, US Open stars like Venus and Serena Williams, Monica Puig, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Gael Monfils, Elina Svitolina, Feliciano Lopez, and so many more were in attendance. Outside the Ball host Mayleen Ramey hit the red carpet to find out how the pros were feeling during this 20th anniversary celebration. Mischa Zverev estimated that they have attended the event at least ten to twelve times, similar to Heather Watson, but for Patrick Mouratoglou, the Citi Taste of Tennis is truly a special place. “I actually met my wife at this event!”

So what were the tennis stars up to 20 years ago? Alexander and Mischa Zverev had an amusing back and forth about their life at 2 and 12 years of age. “Probably baby sitting him, doing my homework every afternoon, and playing a little bit of tennis.” Mischa described who also said Alexander was a good kid. “Yeah I wasn’t a good kid, trust me,” Alexander disagreed. “He was special, very special.” Mischa concluded.
