WTA Celebrates Each Other At Pre-Wimbledon Party, Tennis on the Thames

We’re taking fans beyond the game and into the WTA Pre-Wimbledon Party in London, England. This year the WTA created an exciting day and night event called Tennis on the Thames. Our host Mayleen Ramey interviewed the tennis stars on the purple carpet as they arrived in the evening.

The Pre-Wimbledon party is a great opportunity for the players to dress up and get out of their tennis clothes. Dominika Cibulkova, who is a pro on and off the court with her Instagram account, taught us how to strike the perfect pose. Tennis stars like Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Lucie Safarova and Heather Watson also showed off their fashionable looks. “This design is made from all recycled materials. Mettler London.” Heather explained with a twirl.

The evening wasn’t only fashionable, but it was a party with purpose. The event was dedicated to women and their incredible achievements, so we asked the players to describe a WTA star that inspires them and lifts them up. Monica Puig shined a light on all of her fellow competitors. “All of them really because what we’re doing is not easy. We have to go weeks and weeks traveling, sacrificing time with our families, our friends. I think we all lift each other up and inspire one another to be the very best tennis players and the very best people we can possibly be.”
